11th Battalion the Gajaba Regiment, one of the prestigious Battalions of the Gajaba Regiment commemorated its 30th Anniversary on Sunday, 21 April 2024 at its Headquarters in KILINOCHCHI with series of events, starting with religious flag blessing ceremonies held on 17, 18, 19 and 21 April 2024, at most sacred Anuradhapura Jaya Sri Mahabodhiya and the sacred Ruwanweli Maha Seya. Religious observances terminated with customary all night 'Pirith chanting' and offering of 'Sangika Daana' at Battalion Headquarters KILINOCHCHI.
During the 30 years of prolonged fighting against brutal terrorism in the country, 03 Officers and 96 Other Ranks of the Battalion have laid down their precious lives at the fight to bring back peace and harmony to the Motherland.
On the Anniversary day, 21 Sunday 2024 The Commanding Officer Major Lalith Bandara greeted with a Guard Turnout in accordance with military formalities at the entrance of the battalion Headquarters. Then, he was ushered to accept the salute of the colorful ceremonial parade, composed of 06 Officers and 96 Other Ranks representing all Companies. He took the salute from the dais and added memories by planting a sapling at the camp premises that was followed by a group photograph with the all Officers and Other Ranks who were present at the event.
At the culmination of series of events held on account of the 30 Anniversary, an All Ranks Lunch, was held with the participation of Commanding Officer, Second in Command, Company Commanders, Adjutant, Platoon commanders, Regimental Sergeant Major and all Company Sergeant Majors along with a gathering of Other Ranks.
