MAJOR GENERAL HARINDRA PEIRIS, THE NEWLY APPOINTED COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT FELICITATED AT HOME OF GAJABA

Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, Major General W.H.K.S Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndu assumed duties as the 13th Colonel of the Regiment of the Gajaba Regiment on 11 April 2024 at the Home of Gajaba Saliyapura Anuradhapura.

As the first segment of the ceremony, Newly appointed Colonel of the Regiment of the Gajaba Regiment was warmheartedly welcomed by the Deputy Centre Commandant Colonel Samantha Arachchige on his arrival to the Regimental Headquarters and greeted him with a colorful 'Guard Turnout' at the Main Entrance and subsequently the Colonel of the Regiment paid his profound tribute to Founding Father of the Gajaba Regiment, late Maj Gen Vijaya Wimalaratne by placing a floral wreath at his statue.

Thereafter, he was invited by the Regimental Centre Commandant Brigadier Aruna Wijekoon USP ndc to receive the salute of the colorful military parade commanded by Colonel Duminda Sooriyaarachchi RWP RSP. Colonel of the Regiment did not forget to addressed the enormous gathering comprising Council Members, Centre Commandant, Senior Officers, Commanding Officers, Regimental Sergeant Majors and other ranks where he expressed his sincere gratitude to everyone who supported, shaped, and motivated him throughout his career as well as to everyone who worked diligently in a variety of roles to raise the Gajaba Regiment to the high caliber it possesses today.

After that he signified the assumption of office by signing an official document at the auspicious time amidst religious blessings. After assuming office, the Colonel of the Regiment added memories to the day by planting a sapling at the camp premises and the event concluded after posing for a group photograph with all Officers.
