The Centre Commandant Brigadier Aruna Wijekoon USP ndc made an official visit to 9 GR Battalion on 20 of Feb. Accordingly, on arrival to the Battalion HQ of 9 GR in Nelumwewa the Centre Commandant was warmly received by the Commanding Officer Major Sheron Disanayake USP and awarded a customary guard turn out and that was followed by planting a sapling, marking his visit to the Battalion.
Thereafter, Commanding Officer’s briefing was held and discussed many issues pertaining to Admin, welfare and other aspects of duties in the Battalion.
Later, he inspected the camp premises and instructed to the Commanding Officer to uplift the infrastructure facilities and living standard of the soldiers. Further, he gave valuable ideas and advice to improve the camp security and standard of the camp premises.
Thereafter, during his troops address he emphasized the requirement of maintaining high standard of discipline by all the members and highlighted the issues related to drug addiction by military personnel as well as use of social media by some members of the Army disgracing the image of the Army and its reflection on military.
The visit was culminated with the cordial interaction with all the Officers of the battalion at the Officers’ Mess. On his way back, he visited the Singhapura Farm and gave valuable instructions and suggestions for developing the farm.
The Staff Officer 1 (log), General Staff Officer 2 (Trg) of the Gajaba Regiment and Regimental Sergeant Major accompanied the visit.
