NEWLY PROMOTED MAJOR GENERAL LAL WIJETUNGE HONOURED IN A FELICITATION CEREMONY AT THE GAJABA REGIMENTAL CENTRE

Gajaba Regimental Centre hosted a 'Felicitation Ceremony in honour of newly promoted Major General Lal Wijetunge RWP RSP USP on Saturday in conformity with military traditions under the guidelines of Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Colonel of the Regiment of Gajaba Regiment, Gen Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil. The newly promoted Two-Star General was warmheartedly welcomed by the Centre Commandant Colonel MWS Millagala RWP RSP USP psc on his arrival to the Regimental Headquarters and greeted him with a 'Guard Turnout' at the Main Entrance upon his arrival. Thereafter he paid tribute to 'Father of the Gajaba Regiment' late Major General Vijaya Wimalarathne RWP RSP VSV USP psc, by placing a floral wreath at his statue and followed by a 'Guard of Honour' held in his respect.

Reaching the climax of the day's programme an All Ranks tea was held at Other Ranks’ Mess where he addressed the gathering and expressed his gratitude to Colonel of the Regiment and All Ranks of the Regimental Headquarters for arranging such a wonderful Felicitation Ceremony in his respect.

Members of the Regimental Council, Centre Commandant, Senior Officers, Staff Officers, Commanding Officers and some Other Ranks were present at the event.
