MAJOR GENERAL GVDUA PERERA RWP RSP VSV USP USAWC psc ACCORDED MILITARY SALUTE
The Gajaba Regiment held a colourful farewell parade consisting of 26 x 746 and 01 x 03 colour squad in a first time of the history of Gajaba Regiment on 21 April 2017 for one of most proud sons of the Gajaba Regiment Major General GVDUA Perera RWP RSP VSV USP USAWC psc. As the Colonel of the Regiment of Gajaba Regiment took salute for the last time at the “Home of Gajaba†after a distinguished career spanning 35 years.
Major General GVDUA Perera RWP RSP VSV USP USAWC psc was a proud product of de Mazenod College, Kandana. His exemplary leadership was instrumental in eradicating terrorism in Sri Lanka and contributed to the Army by holding many Command and Staff appointments. Few of them are Comd – Air Mob Bde, Brig (GS) of SF HQ (W), Director Training – AHQ, Director Operations - AHQ, Comd SF HQ - (KLN), DGMI, Comd SF HQ - (J), Col of the Regt of SLNG, DGGS – OCDS and Comdt - DSCSC. He was a veteran Infantryman, who pioneered the 3rd Battalion the Gajaba Regiment from 1996 to 1998. Further he served to the nation as Deputy High Commissioner of Malaysia as a diplomat from 17.04.2009 to 15.05.2011.
Further, he was awarded with Rana Wickrama Padakkama (RWP), Rana Soora Padakkama (RSP) with two claps, Vishista Seva Vibhushanaya (VSV) which awarded to honour, continues and pure 25 years of the service and Utthama Seva Padakkama (USP) which awarded to honour the special cleverness, skill, being exemplary, great service and the desire of performing duties.
