GR Players Won Inter Regiments Volleyball Championship 2017 ( Novices & Super League )
Sri Lanka Army Inter Regiments Volleyball Tournament ( Novices & Super League ) was held on Friday (23) at the Indoor Stadium, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment - Ambepussa.
Major General Renaka V Udawatte, Deputy Chief of Staff graced the occasion as the Chief Guest as well as Major General GVDUA Perera RWP RSP VSV USP USAWC psc Colonel of the Regiment - Gajaba Regiment, Major General AWMAWN Ranawana RWP RSP ndu psc GOC - 58 Division, Brig NR Lamahewage RWP RSP Centre Commandant - Gajaba Regiment, other senior officers, other ranks and a large gathering of volleyball fans witnessed the final Super League encounter between Gajaba Regiment (GR) and Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps (SLAOC). All the Regiments (12 Regiment for Novices & 19 Regiment for Super League) in the Army took part in the tournament with enormous attention and enthusiasm in the past weeks.
Beating their rival, GR Novices & Super League team finally emerged winners with the Championship. Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers and Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps became the runners-up respectively.
Major General Renaka V Udawatte, Deputy Chief of Staff extended best wishes to the players and gave away the trophies and certificates to the winners at the conclusion of the tournament.

Best Player – L/Cpl Pathirana SJBR 3 GR
Best Setter – L/Cpl Masachchi ARK 3 GR
Best Blocker – L/Cpl Udayantha JK 3 GR
Best Defender – L/Cpl Liyanage 3 GR
