Major General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, the Cheif of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel of the Regiment of Gajaba Regiment and Commando Regiment yesterday (26), evening joined hands in mammoth tree planting programme organized by MBC Network (Pvt) Ltd in coincided with 25th anniversary of 'Sirasa FM' and 21st anniversary of 'Sirasa TV' at the "Home of Gajaba", Saliyapura, Anuradhapura.
Major General Shavendra Silva was warmly welcomed by the Deputy Centre Commandant - GR, Colonel Mahinda Rajapaksha RWP RSP USP on his arrival at the venue and inaugurated the "Thuru Sirasa" programme by planting a 'Karanda' (Mullikulam) sapling together with Mrs Needra Weerasinghe, the Director, Electronic Media - Capital Maharaja Group of Companies and other officials, during a brief ceremony.
Simultaneously, the Officers and Other Ranks of the Gajaba Regimental Centre, planted 1000 different saplings at the venue.
