The Gajaba Regiment hosted 'Felicitation Ceremony' to newly promoted,Maj Gen W M J R K Senaratne RWP RSP, Maj Gen N D S P Niwunhella RWP RSP, Maj Gen H L V M Liyanage RWP RSP ndu , Maj Gen H M T B Hangilipola RWP RSP , Maj Gen N R Lamahewage RWP RSP ndu and Maj Gen K P Nugegoda RWP RSP with the directions of the Acting Chief of Defense Staff, Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, Colonel of the Regiment the Gajaba Regiment and Special Forces Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc to congratulate in conformity with military traditions.
The newly promoted Two Star Generals were warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant Colonel Mahinda Rajapakshe RWP RSP USP on behalf of the Colonel of the Regiment, the Centre Commandant and All Ranks of the Gajaba Regiment greeted them by a 'Guard of Honour’.Then they paid tribute to the 'Father of the Gajaba Regiment' late Major General Vijaya Wimalaratne RWP RSP VSV USP psc, by placing a floral wreath at his statue.After that,Major Generals were honoured by Six 'Guard of Honors at the Parade Ground.This remarkable event will go on to the Keteriyans history as well as the history of the Sri Lanka Army,as first ever Six two star Generals together honored with their promotions.
Reaching the climax of the day's programme, All Ranks tea hosted in honour to newly promoted Major Generals by all officers and other ranks.
Members of the Regimental Council,Deputy Centre Commandant,Senior Officers, Staff Officers, Commanding Officers and Other Ranks were also present at the historical ceremony.
