His Excellency the President Hon. Maithripala Sirisena made a visit to Headquarter Battalion the Gajaba Regiment, Senapura Camp with a view to inquiring into the well-being of those differently able Gajaba War Heroes who are undergoing rehabilitation and recuperation this morning (25).
Major General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndcpsc, the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army also the Colonel of the Regiment of the Gajaba Regiment warmly welcomed him on his arrival at Senapura Camp and accorded a drive-pass on his honour. President then visited the wards and looked into the wellbeing of the dozens of Gajaba War Heroes who suffered permanent injuries and turned differently able during the three-decades-long battle against the brutal terrorism in Sri Lanka, who were the beneficiaries of fully fledged new therapeutic swimming pool declared vested to them on last Saturday. Then, HE the President was invited to plant a tree sapling at the newly opened Hydrotherapy Swimming Pool side leaving an indelible gesture.
The new swimming pool (25m x 18 m, 8 lanes) was gifted to valiant Gajaba War Heroes by Ladies Chapter of the Chamber of Young Lankan Entrepreneurs (COYLE) chaired by Mrs ShehaniPiyasena at the request of Mrs Sujeewa Nelson, the President of the Gajaba Seva Vanitha Branch. The civil population of the area also had an opportunity to interact with the president and share their faithfulness. After attending a group photograph, Hon. Maithripala Sirisena has presented a special memento by Corporal Paranamanna PMRS – 14 GR, which is an own product of differently able Gajaba War Heroes at Senapura Camp as a tribute to his remarkable visit.
The Regimental Council members of the Gajaba Regiment, Centre Commandant Brigadier Harendra Peiris RWP RSP USP, Deputy Centre Commandant, Other Senior Officers Commanding Officer of the Headquarter Battalion and other Commanding Officers and several Other Ranks were also present at the occasion.
