Brigadier Mahinda Rajapaksha RWP RSP USP, the 22nd Centre Commandant of the most prestigious Gajaba Regiment was relinquished the office as the Centre Commandant on 15 December 2020, the formalities commenced with floral tribute at the monument of war heroes’ of the Gajaba Regiment, upon his arrival he was received by Deputy Commandant Colonel Nilanga Fernando RSP and honoured with a Guard Turnout and a colourful Military Parade. Later he was invited to plant a sapling as a gesture of memory at this Regimental Centre.
Thereafter, he posed for a photograph with Staff officers and Senior Non - Commissioned officers of the Gajaba Regimental Centre and it was followed by declare opening of a fully pledged prefabricated building at the camp premises.
Then the Chief guest was accompanied to a all ranks tea held in his honour at the Other ranks’ Mess, where he can exchanged pleasantries and few thoughts with the gathering and the days event culminated with a officers’ mess function followed by a special dinner.
All officers and other ranks of the Regimental Centre extend their heartfelt gratitude to the out going Centre Commandant for his dedicated and commendable service rendered to the “Keteriyans Family’ as well as to the Home of Gajaba. He is as a Visionary Leader he made great contribution for uplifting the standard of the Gajaba Regiment and well - being of the all ranks during his long tenure, of almost five years as the Centre Commandant and Deputy Centre Commandant.
The Deputy Centre Commandant along with all ranks of the Regimental Centre wish all the very best in his most prestigious new appointment as the Minister counsellor (Defence) High Commission of Sri Lanka in United Kindom , marking remarkable milestone of this most respected and outstanding Senior officer of the Keteriyans family.
