THE OFFICIAL VISIT BY THE CENTRE COMMANDANT

The Centre Commandant Brigadier Mahinda Rajapaksha RWP RSP USP visited 7(V) GR, 14 GR and 17 (V) GR. On the arrival to the 7(V) GR, on 05 December, the Centre Commandant was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer Major Samantha Fernando RWP on his arrival to the camp and days chief guest was honoured with a guard turn out, then followed the Commanding Officers' briefing, a host of issues came up for discussion, including matters pertaining to operational, admin aspects, issues of weapons, strength of the battalion and welfare matters of the officers and soldiers.

Moreover, commandant emphasised about the prevailing COVID 19 situation in the country. And did not forget to thank the troops for their dedicated contribution fight against this deadliest virus.

Further, he instructed to the Commanding officer and all officers of the battalion to take strict precautions measures against COVID - 19 virus pandemic.

Subsequently, he inspected the camp premises and instructed to the Commanding Officer to uplift the infrastructure facilities and living standards of the soldiers. Specially, discipline of the soldiers and drug addiction were highlighted in the course of his speech. He precise more, examples on drugs addiction personel and the strict actions against taken them in recent past.

During the visit Commandant patronage was invited to open the newly constructed Infantry name Board of the camp built at the entrance.

The days climax reached by the visiting of 14 GR. On arrival of the Commandant received by the CO - Major Nimalanath Owttiyawatta RWP after a drive pass.

Further, he was briefed by the Commanding Officer and then he instructed to improve more facilities and standards of the battalion and commandant highly appreciated the dedicated duties of the officers and soldiers of the battalion. Moreover, Commandant visited the camp premises and instructed to uplifted of the battalion standard. He emphasised about the importance of tree planting inside the camp premises.

Later, he was spelt out to the troops on ongoing Local and Global fight against this deadliest Virus and instructed to the troops to take all the precautions to get rid of this virus.

On 06 December 2020, while way back Commandant Visited 17 (V) GR located at Tadduwan Mulative. The Commanding Officer Major Thusara Kusumsiri RWP RSP, warmly welcomed with a customary guard turn out. The Commandant emphasised more on the beautification of the Camp premises and uplifting the standard and develop to infrastructure facilities of the battalion.

The Staff Officers of the Regimental Centre and Regimental Sargent Major also associated the visit.

This whole visit was conducted in accordance to the health guidelines of COVID - 19 preventions.
