The Centre Commandant Brigader Mahinda Rajapaksha RWP RSP USP visited 9 GR and 20 GR on 09 July 2020. On arrival to the 9 GR, the Centre Commandant warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer Major Maduranga Dissanayake RWP RSP and gave a customary guard turn out. After, the Commanding Officers' briefing, a host of issues came up for discussion, including matters pertaining to operational, admin aspects, issues of weapons, strength of the battalion and welfare matters of the officers and soldiers. Moreover, commandant emphasised the prevailing COVID 19 situation in the country. He not missed to thanks to all troops for their sacrifices and dedicated contribution to eradicated ongoing local and global fight against this deadly virus from the mother Land. Further, he extends more instruction to Commanding officer and officers to take strict actions against COVID - 19.
Further, he inspected camp premises and instructed to Commanding Officer to uplifted the infrastructures facilities and living standards of the soldier's. Specially, discipline of the soldiers and drug addiction were highlighted in the course of his speech. He precise more, on best examples on drugs addiction personel and the strict actions against them in recent past of the Army.
During the visit Commandant patronage to opened a newly constructed temple in side the camp.
The days climax reached by the visiting 20 GR. On arrival of the Commandant being received by the CO - Major Vijaya Weerasooriya RWP RSP, after Drive Pass. Further, he was briefed by the Commanding Officer and then he instructed to improve more facilities and standards of the battalion and commandant highly appreciated the dedicated duties of the officers and soldiers of the battalion. More over, Commandant visited the camp premises and gave valuable ideas to uplifted of the battalion. He repeatedly said in his visits to plant more Trees in side the Camp premises.
Later, he was spelt out to the troops on ongoing Local and Global fight against this deadly Virus and gave valuable instructions to make the battalion standards better.
The Staff Officers of the Regimental Centre and Regimental Sargent Major also participated for the visit.
The days programmes were conducted adhering of health safety guidance.
