NEWLY PROMOTED MAJOR GENERAL WAS HONOURED IN FELICITATION CEREMONY AT THE GAJABA REGIMENTAL CENTRE

The Gajaba Regiment hosted a 'Felicitation Ceremony' with the directions of the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel of the Regiment of the Gajaba Regiment and Commando Regiment Major General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc to congratulate newly promoted Major General P J Gamage RWP RSP USP ndc, in conformity with military traditions.

The newly promoted Two Star General was warmly welcomed by the Deputy Centre Commandant Colonel L H M Rajapakshe RWP RSP USP on behalf of the Colonel of the Regiment, the Centre Commandant and All Ranks of the Gajaba Regiment and greeted him by a 'Guard Turnout' at the Main Gate side upon his arrival to the Regimental Centre, Saliyapura in the Morning today (09). Then he also paid his tribute to the 'Father of the Gajaba Regiment' late Major General Vijaya Wimalarathne RWP RSP VSV USP psc, by placing a floral wreath at his statue. Then he was invited to take salute at the 'Guard of Honour' commanded by Captain B M A N V Gunathilaka 8 GR, at the Parade Ground.

Reaching the climax of the day's programme All Ranks tea hosted in honour of newly promoted Major General by all officers and Other Ranks at the Men's club. He also did not forget to address the gathering and pay his gratitude to the Colonel of the Regiment and All Ranks for arranging a grand felicitation. Major General H P N K Jayapathirana RSP - GOC 21 Division, Major General W A K B Udalupola RSP - GOC 23 Division, Regimental Council members - GR, Deputy Centre Commandant, Commanding Officers, Staff Officers and several other officers and Other Ranks were also present at the ceremony.
