NEWLY CONSTRUCTED HOUSE WAS HANDED OVER TO DIFFERENTLY ABLE WAR HERO

With the direction of the Colonel of the Regiment and the Adjutant General Major General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, the Gajaba Regiment erected a new house with the blessings of the Commander of the Army and the financial support of Mr. D L Weerasooriya, who was the former CEO of Maliban Biscuits Company – Ratmalana and the Chairman of the Anods Cocoa (Pvt) Ltd extending their generosity for differently able Non Commissioned Officer, S/470772 Cpl Lakmal WKS – 8 GR, who was severely wounded in last humanitarian operations.

The newly constructed house with modern amenities was ceremonially handed over to this valiant war hero at No 298/B 1 A, Cemetery Road, Boralugoda, Athurugiriya at an auspicious time on 06 June 2018, by the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake RWP RSP VSV USP USACGSC with the invitation of the Colonel of the Regiment of the Gajaba Regiment and all ranks.

The house was constructed and furnished with a total cost of 2.7 mn and the constructions were closely monitored and supervised by the 12th Bn the Gajaba Regiment. The occasion was also graced by the Colonel of the Regiment and the Adjutant General Major General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, President of the Gajaba Seva Vanitha Branch Mrs. Sujeewa Nelson, donor of the house Mr. D L Weerasooriya, Major General KJ Alwis (Retd) RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc. Gajaba Regimental Council Members, Regimental Officiating Centre Commandant Colonel Harendra Peiris RWP RSP USP, Deputy Centre Commandant and the Regimental Staff were also present at the occasion.
