NEWLY APPOINTED COMMANDING OFFICER, 7TH BATTALION THE GAJABA REGIMENT ASSUMES OFFICE

Major Janaka Herath assumed office as the 11th Commanding Officer of 7th Battalion the Gajaba Regiment at an auspicious time, on 18 September 2023 amidst religious blessings at the Headquarters 7th Battalion the Gajaba Regiment in BATHTHARAMULLA.

The Commanding officer was warmly welcomed by the Second in Command, Major Umesh Rathnayake on his arrival to the camp. Then the array of day’s programme was commenced by a formal ceremony with a Guard Turnout, saluted new Commanding Officer on his arrival and he took over the duties by signing an official document amid religious observances.

Further, in his troops address he informed about the future activities of the battalion and how the troops should work in cooperation. Later he attended the all ranks tea party held at Other Ranks ‘mess, where he had a cordial interaction with gathering of troops.

Commander of the Army and Colonel of the Regiment, Regimental Council Members, Regimental Senior Officers, Centre Commandant and all Staff Officers of the Regimental Centre extend their best wishes for his new appointment and his future endeavors.
