THE NEWLY APPOINTED CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE ARMY FELICITATED AT THE HOME OF GAJABA

A colourful felicitation ceremony was held on Friday (05) at the Gajaba Regiment Centre to salute the newly appointed Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army Major General Harindra Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndu. The ceremony follows the military traditions, customs and ethics bringing the pride and honour to the Gajaba Regiment.

As the first segment of the ceremony, Chief of Staff was warmheartedly welcomed by the Deputy Centre Commandant Colonel Roshan Kalupahana RSP USP on his arrival to the Regimental Headquarters and greeted him with a colourful 'Guard Turnout' at the Main Entrance and subsequently the Chief of Staff paid his profound tribute to Founding Father of the Gajaba Regiment, late Maj Gen Vijaya Wimalaratne by placing a floral wreath at his statue.

After a while, the Chief Guest was ushered by the Centre Commandant Brigadier Aruna Wijekoon USP ndc to receive the salute of the Colorful 'Guard of Honour' held in his respect amidst the melodies of patriotic songs.

Later, the Chief Guest was invited to plant a Nar sapling at the Regimental Headquarters office premises in memory of this significant occasion and which followed by siting for a group photograph with all officers who attended the event leaving indelible memories to the occasion.

Reaching the climax of the day's programme an All Ranks tea was held at the Other Ranks’ Mess where the Chief of Staff had a cordial interaction with Officers and Men of the Keterians' Family and subsequently he addressed the gathering and expressed his gratitude to Colonel of the Regiment and All Ranks of the Regimental Centre for arranging such a wonderful Felicitation Ceremony in his respect.

Council Members, Centre Commandant, Deputy Centre Commandant, Senior officers, Commanding Officers, a gathering of Officers and Other Rankers were present at the event.
