NEW CENTRE COMMANDANT (GR) ASSUMED OFFICE

Colonel Mahinda Rajapaksha RWP RSP USP assumed duties as the 22nd Centre Commandant GR, at an auspicious time today, (01) amids religious observances.

Upon his arrival at the main gate side greeted him by a 'Guard Turnout' and thereafter he assumed duties in office officially.

Then newly appointed Centre Commandant placed a floral wreath at the Father of the Gajaba Regiment, late Maj Gen Vijaya Wimalaratne's statue rendering his tribute.

Then he took salute of a colourful military parade at the Parade Ground and after reviewing the parade he did not forget to address the gathering. Thereafter, he was also invited to plant a 'NAA' sapling infront of the RHQ GR office complex. After sitting for a group photograph, the new Commandant attended all ranks tea party at the 'Mens' Club' as the climax of day's programme.
