The Gajaba Regiment Tuesday (27), bid a farewell to one of its proud sons, retiring Major General Indrajith Peramunugamage RWP VSV USP who has rendered an exemplary service to the Nation, during a formal military ceremony at the Regimental Centre, Home of Gajaba, Saliyapura.
The retiring Major General was warmly welcomed by the Regimental Centre Commandant Colonel Mahinda Rajapaksha RWP RSP USP, on behalf of the Colonel of the Regiment, Centre Commandant and greeted him by a ''Guard Turnout". Then he paid his Last official tribute to the 'Founder Father' of the Gajaba Regiment, late Major General Vijaya Wimalaratne by placing a floral wreath at his statue.
Thereafter, he was invited to accept salute at a colourful military parade at the parade ground in conformity with military traditions.
He was also attended the 'All Ranks tea.The climax of the day's programme was culminated with an elegant 'Farewell Lunch' at the Officers' Mess hosted on behalf of the Colonel of the Regiment,the Council members, Center Comandant,Senior officers of the Regiment and officers and their Spouses were participated to the event.
