The Gajaba Regiment commemorated its 42nd Anniversary on Tuesday, 14 October 2025 at the Gajaba Regimental Centre with a series of events. The celebrations began with a multi religious flag blessing ceremony on 3 October 2025 followed by an All Night Pirith Chanting event on 12 October 2025 and an Alms Giving ceremony for members of the Maha Sanga.
On 13 October 2025 the Regiment honoured its War Heroes at the monument, where Major General UKDDP Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc, Colonel of the Regiment, laid a floral wreath in memory of the Officers and Other Ranks who made the supreme sacrifice for the Motherland. 62 parents, siblings and spouces have paid their tribute to the fallen War Heroes of this esteemed Regiment.
On the Anniversary Day the Colonel of the Regiment was recieved by the Deputy Centre Commandant Colonel SGALW Sapugoda RWP RSP and greeted with a Guard Turnout. Then the Colonel of the Regiment paid tribute to the "Founder Father" of the Gajaba Regiment, late Major General Vijaya Wimalaratne by laying a floral wreath at his statue.
With the presence of Centre Commandant Brigadier KR Kalupahana RSP USP the Colonel of the Regiment accepted the salute of the ceremonial parade composed of 35 Officers and 405 Other Ranks representing all pestigous battalions, and reviewed the parade.
Following the parade, the Chief Guest planted a sapling to commemorate the occasion. Another significant highlight of the day was the taking of a group photograph with the Chief Guest.
The celebrations concluded with an All Ranks lunch, attended by the Colonel of the Regiment, Members of the Regimental Council, Centre Commandant and All Ranks representing the Gajaba Battalions.
