Placing of corner - stone for Therapeutic Swimming Pool (25m, 8 lanes) was held on 23 June 2018, at the Regimental Headquarter Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment – Senapura Camp, for the benefit of differently able Officers/ORs. The occasion was graced by the Colonel of the Regiment and the Adjutant General Major General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, the President of the Gajaba Seva Vanitha Branch Mrs. Sujeewa Nelson with invitation of Lieutenant Colonel Janaka Vithanachchi RWP USP – the Commanding Officer of the RHQ BN GR. This project became a reality with personal interest and close coordination of Mrs. Sujeewa Nelson and the generosity extended by Mrs. Shehani Piyasena - the Chair Person of Coyle Ladies Chapter and the project will be completed within 4 months’ time by Foster and Reed (Pvt) Ltd.
The corner -stone was laid under the religious observances and blessings led by Maha Sangha and Major General Shavendra Silva addressed the gathering explaining the importance and the benefits of the project. Major General Nishsanka Ranawana RWP RSP ndc psc, Other Council Members of the Regiment, the Officiating Centre Commandant Colonel Harendra Peiris RWP RSP USP, the Deputy Centre Commandant, Regimental Staff and members of the RHQ BN GR were also present at the occation.
