Major General D J I P Gamage RWP USP was honoured with a “Guard Turnout” and a “Guard of Honour” on his promotion to distinguished rank of Major General on 07 September 2018 at Home of Gajaba, Saliyapura.
The newly promoted Major General was officially received by the Deputy Centre Commandant, Colonel Mahinda Rajapakshe RWP RSP USP and the “Guard Turnout” greeted him in front of the “Main Guard Room”. After that he paid his respect to the “Father of the Gajaba Regiment” Late Major General Vijaya Wimalarathne by placing a floral wreath at his statute.
Upon his arrival at the Main Gate side the Regimental Centre Commandant Colonel Harindra Peiris RWP RSP USP, warmly welcomed him on behalf of the Colonel of the Regiment, all Officers and Other Ranks of the Gajaba Regiment. Then he took salute at the “Guard of Honour” in conformity with military traditions.
The day’s programme was concluded with all ranks tea party at the Men’s club. Regimental Council members, other Senior Officers, Commanding Officers, Regimental Staff and Other Rankers were also present at the occasion.
