The Gajaba Regimental Centre hosted a colorful farewell Guard Turnout and Dinner for one of its proud sons Brigadier Viraj Kariyawasam the former Deputy Commissioner Bureau of Commissioner General Rehabilitation on 16 March 2022. He took the Farewell Salute at the Home of Gajaba on the eve of his retirement after a distinguished and illustrious military career spanning more than 34 years to Army and to Country.
The day’s ceremony was commenced with a customary Guard Turnout and offering of floral tribute to late Major General Wijaya Wimalaratne's statue. The day's event was culminated with a colourful Dinner Night organized under the guidance of Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Colonel of the Regiment of Gajaba Regiment, Gen Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil.
Chief of Staff Major General Vikum Liyanage participated the event as the Guest of Honour. Members of the Regimental Council, Centre Commandant, Deputy Centre Commandant, Senior Officers, Commanding Officers and all the staff officers of the Regimental Headquarters were present at this ceremony.
