The Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel of the Regiment of the Gajaba Regiment and Commando Regiment Major General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, yesterday 02 June 2019, joined the troops of the prestigious Air Mobile Brigade of the 53 Division and extended his warmest wishes as they commenced 310 km long expedition on 29 March 2019 from Medawachchiya to reach Colombo in 11 days in order to commemorate their 25 years of service rendered to the Nation.
The Air Mobile Brigade as an outstanding fighting outfit in the Sri Lanka Army has shown an epitome of valour and courage during the three-decades-long war against ruthless terrorism in the country since its inception on 01 May 1994. Further, it was an added source of inspiration and morale boost for the troops to see Major General Shavendra Silva joining hands with them at this milestone who has provided a stunning leadership and Commanded Air Mobile Brigade and the celebrated 58 Infantry Division during the Wanni Humanitarian Operations.
