16th Battalion the Gajaba Regiment celebrated its 15th Anniversary on 22 October 2023. Coincide with 15th Anniversary take hold of multi religious observances remembering all past and present members of battalion.
Accordingly symbolic flag blessings got underway at most sacred Anuradhapura Jaya Sri Mahabodhiya, most hallowed Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of Tooth) Kandy where sacred 'Shareeika' relics remain, Kataragama Kirivehera and Devaala compound, St, Fatima Church Tabbowa, Grand Jummah Mosque Puttlam, Ganadevi Kovila Saliyapura and Ayyanayaka Devaalaya Tabbowa. Religious observances terminated with customary all night 'Pirith chanting' and offer 'Sangika Daana' at Battalion Headquarters Tabbowa.
On the day of anniversary Commanding Officer was greeted with Guard Turnout followed by a colourful ceremonial parade by the Officers and Other Ranks of the Unit. At the culmination of series of events held on account of the 15th anniversary, an All Ranks Lunch was held with participation of everyone.
