The Gajaba Regiment Inter-Battalion Cricket Tournament 2023 organized by Sport Section of the Gajaba Regiment was held at the Regimental Centre Cricket Ground under the guidance of Commander of the Army and Colonel of the Regiment Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu and with the close supervision of Centre Commandant Brigadier Wishwajith Vidyananda RWP RSP USP, this cricket competition was organized with the objective of identifying much talented and potential Cricket players of the Gajaba Regimental and grooming them for forthcoming regimental level tournaments in order to gain competitive exposure. This competition was kicked off on 15 June 2023 and continued until 19 June 2023.
The 16 Battalion Gajaba Regiment Cricket team became the Champions after thrilling encounter with the 9 Battalion Gajaba Regiment, they became the Runners up in the competition.
S/479211 Sgt Pushpakumara SS (16 GR) won the man of the match award while S/468852 C/Sgt Priyankara AAT (16 GR) became the best bowler and S/479211 Sgt Pushpakumara SS (16 GR) became the best Batsman of the tournament.
The Deputy Centre Commandant Colonel Roshan Kalupahana RSP USP, Senior Officers, Commanding Officer 22 GR, all Staff Officers and a gathering of Other Ranks of the Regimental Centre participated in the event.
