Sri Lanka Army Commandos, as a pioneering and qualified entity to conduct hostage rescue operations in Sri Lanka, conducted the hostage rescue basic course for 03 x 14 MNDF members at Ganemulla camp premises from 22 April 2024 to 31 May 2024. General Officer Commanding 53 Infantry Division and Colonel of the Regiment Commando Regiment Major General PGPS Rathnayaka RWP RSP ndc grace the occasion as a chief guest of the graduation ceremony.

The State Minister of Defence, Hon Mr Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, made an official visit to the Regimental Center Commando Regiment on 06 May 2024. At the Regimental Center Headquarters, the General Officer Commanding 53 Infantry Division and Colonel of the Regiment Commando Regiment Major General PGPS Rathnayaka RWP RSP ndc welcomed the State Minister of Defence and observed the presentation on the Commando Regiment that took place in the conference hall with all senior officers. Following that, the Hon Minister joined the group photograph with the all Commandos that was placed in front of the Regimental headquarters. The hon. minister next attended the opening ceremony of the temple inside the Commando Regimental Center to open the newly constructed Walakulu wall, Bodhi Prakaraya, Dharama Mandapaya by Commando Direct enlisted batch Number 22 same time minister unveiled the opening plaque.

Commando Regiment organised a traditional New Year Festival to mark the Sinhala and Tamil New Year 2024 on Saturday, 06th April 2024 at the Swimming pool site, at Ganemulla. The festival was themed “Commando Regiment Seva Vanitha Bakmaha Asiriya” and was organised by the Commando Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch.

An insignia awarding ceremony was held at the Army Headquarters on 06 February 2024, to honour the newly graduated paratroopers from the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and the Sri Lanka Army who completed the Basic Airborne Course - MNDF 04. Lieutenant General HLVM Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Army, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest to confer the prestigious insignia. Fourteen MNDF and thirteen Sri Lanka Army Commandos, including the present Provost Marshal of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Major General ACA de Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc, received their Airborne insignias from the Commander of the Army, who was also a fellow member of the same course.
