MAJOR GENERAL W M A B WIJEKOON USP ndc HONOURED IN A FAREWELL SALUTE AND DINNER AT THE HOME OF GAJABA

The Gajaba Regimental Centre hosted a vibrant Farewell Parade and Dinner on 02 January 2026 in honour of Major General W M A B Wijekoon USP ndc, marking the conclusion of his distinguished military career spanning over 34 years.

The ceremony commenced with a customary Guard Turnout, followed by a Floral Tribute at the statue of the Late Major General VijayaWimalaratne RWP RSP VSV USP psc. The retiring veteran Keterian was then honoured with a colourful parade at the Regimental Parade Ground, recognizing his dedicated and outstanding service to theGajaba Regiment. Following the parade, a Group Photograph and an All Ranks tea was held to mark the occasion, signifying growth, legacy and camaraderie.

Later that evening, a Grand Farewell Dinner was held at the Officers' Mess of the Gajaba Regiment. This dignified event hosted by the Colonel of the Regiment, Major General U K D D P Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc and provided an opportunity for officers to express their gratitude and pay tribute to the legacy of Major General W M A B Wijekoon USP ndc, celebrating his leadership, service and achievements with deep respect.
