NEWLY APPOINTED COMMANDING OFFICER OF THE 5TH BATTALION THE GAJABA REGIMENT ASSUMES OFFICE

Major R M V B Samaranayake assumed office as the 14th Commanding Officer of 5th Battalion the Gajaba Regiment on 17 February 2025 at the battalion headquarters in Horowpothana.

On arrival, the newly appointed Commanding Officer was accorded a Guard Turnout followed by floral tribute to honoring fallen war heroes. He officially assumed duties at the auspicious time by signing an official document amidst religious blessings. To mark this special occasion, he planted a sapling at the camp premises and delivered a formal troops address. Later, he attended the all-ranks tea party and engaged in a cordial interaction with the gathered troop.
