Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc assumed duties as the 58th Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) on 5 December 2024 at the Volunteer Force Headquarters amidst formal military traditions.
Upon arrival, the newly appointed Commandant was received by Senior Officers of SLAVF.
Following the Guard Turnout, the Commandant paid tribute to fallen war heroes at the memorial of the late Captain Saliya Aladeniya PWV before inspecting the Guard of Honour.
Amidst religious blessings, the Senior Officer officially assumed his duties by signing an official document with the blessings of the Maha Sangha. To commemorate the occasion, he planted a sapling in the camp premises.
Subsequently, the new Commandant addressed the troops, followed by an All-Ranks tea session. Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks attended the occasion and extended their best wishes to the new Commandant.
