The Gajaba Regiment marked its 41st anniversary on 14 October 2024 with a series of formal dignified events that upheld the long-standing traditions of the Regiment.
The day's Ceremony commenced with a Guard Turnout at the entrance of the Gajaba Regimental Centre, where the Colonel of the Regiment, Major General MGWWWMCB Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc was greeted.
Thereafter, Colonel of the Regiment paid his tribute to the Regiment's Founding Father, late Major General WIVKM Wimalaratne RWP RSP VSV USP psc by laying a wreath at his statue, honoring his legacy and contributions to the regiment and that was followed by an elegant ceremonial parade awarded to Colonel of the Regiment, this event was more signified as it was participated by special invitees of WO 1 Mayange Padmanadan, (Rtd), WO 1 Pramod Dharmadasa (Rtd) and WO 1 Laxman Fernando (Rtd) who were the Cadet instructors of Colonel of the Regiment when he was undergoing military training at the Sri Lanka Military Academy.
The anniversary celebrations concluded with an All-Ranks Lunch, fostering unity and camaraderie as officers and soldiers shared a meal together. The event was graced by the presence of Council members, senior officers, regimental staff, and soldiers representing all ranks, further strengthening the bonds within the Gajaba Regiment.
