The Gajaba Regimental Centre hosted a vibrant Farewell Ceremony on 27 December 2025 in honour of Major General H P I Perera RWP RSP, marking the conclusion of his distinguished and dedicated military career.
The ceremony commenced with the Senior Officer paying a floral tribute at the War Heroes Monument. Upon his arrival at the main entrance, a Guard Turnout was accorded in his honour followed by a Floral Tribute at the statue of the Late Major General Vijaya Wimalaratne RWP RSP VSV USP psc. The retiring veteran Keterian was then honoured with a colourful Guard of Honour at the Regimental Parade Ground, recognizing his dedicated and outstanding service to the Gajaba Regiment. Following the Guard of Honour, a Group Photograph and an All Ranks tea was held to mark the occasion, signifying growth, legacy and camaraderie.
The ceremony was a fitting tribute to the exemplary service, steadfast leadership and unwavering commitment of Major General H P I Perera RWP RSP. Concluding a distinguished military career spanning over three and a half decades, his invaluable contributions to the Gajaba Regiment and the Sri Lanka Army will be remembered with deep respect and gratitude. The honours bestowed reflected his professional excellence and enduring legacy, inspiring future generations of Keterians with pride.
