A contingent of 34 x Officers and 101 x Other Ranks of the Sri Lanka Armed Forces departed for India on 09 November 2025 to participate in the Exercise Mithra Shakthi XI, a joint military training programme conducted between the Sri Lanka Army and the Indian Army.
The departing contingent comprised:
13 x Officers and 75 x Soldiers from the Gajaba Regiment
13 x Officers and 24 x Soldiers from affiliated regiments
08 x Officers and 02 x Soldiers representing the Sri Lanka Air Force.
The troops departed from the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport at 1430 hour, bound for India, where they will engage in intensive joint training exercises with Indian troops until 23 November 2025.
Before their departure, the contingent was formally addressed and encouraged by the Colonel of the Regiment of the Gajaba Regiment and the Centre Commandant of the Gajaba Regimental Centre, who extended their best wishes for a successful and productive training engagement.
The ‘Exercise Mithra Shakthi XI’ continues to serve as a significant platform for strengthening bilateral military relations and fostering regional security cooperation between Sri Lanka and India.
