Gajaba Troops Assist in Strengthening Damaged Steps on Sri Pada Access Route

Due to Cyclone “Ditwah” which struck the island, the main access route to the Sri Pada site was affected by landslides in the Mahagiridamba area. Although this year’s Sri Pada worship commenced on 04 December 2025, the steps in the affected area have become unsafe, causing significant difficulty for devotees engaged in worship.

The Gajaba Troops made a significant and commendable contribution by deploying their manpower and expertise to restore the Sri Pada steps that were damaged by the 'Ditwah' Cyclone. A dedicated team comprising 55 personnel transported the required raw materials to the summit on 15 December 2025 to facilitate the renovation work.

This initiative was undertaken as part of the Sri Lanka Army’s national commitment to the Rebuilding Sri Lanka programme, reflecting the Army’s unwavering dedication to national service and heritage preservation.
