The Gajaba Regimental Centre and the Gajaba Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch joined hands to award scholarships to 133 children of civil staff, serving, retired and fallen war heroes of the Gajaba Regiment, during a vibrant ceremony held on 22nd January 2025 at the Home of Gajaba, Saliyapura.
This initiative was spearheaded by Mrs. Priyanga Wickramasinghe Chairperson of the Gajaba Seva Vanitha Branch, under the guidance of Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment of the Gajaba Regiment.
During the event, scholarships were awarded to 70 students who passed the Grade Five Scholarship Examination, 43 for Ordinary Level Examination qualifiers, 4 for Advanced Level Examination qualifiers and 8 specially selected children received financial assistance along with a stock of stationery and school supplies.
This programme reinforces the commitment of the Gajaba Seva Vanitha Branch to support the families and their loved ones, honouring the sacrifices of fallen heroes and ensuring a brighter future for the next generation It underscores the significance of education and emphasises the value of continuous support for Keterian families, fostering a sense of unity, care and responsibility within the Gajaba Regiment.
Members of the Regimental Council, executive members of the Gajaba Seva Vanitha Branch, Deputy Centre Commandant, Officers along with their spouses and families of scholarship recipients participated to the event, making it a memorable and meaningful occasion.
