With the guidance of the chairman GVA, Gajaba Regiment centre initiated facilitation of Poppy flower Pinning ceremony as part of the annual armed forces memorial Poppy celebration 2024, the ministry of the health and the ministry of the Education, in collaboration with the Ex-Servicemen Association.
The pinning of Poppy flowers, organized in connection with the global tradition date back to 11 November 1918 and the end of the World War 1 to inspired the poem "In Flanders Fields" by Colonel John McCrae symbolized the bloodshed and sacrifice made by soldiers during the war. The fund generated from pinning are crucial in supporting a variety of welfare activities for Ex-Servicemen and their families.
Presidents and senior members of Anuradhapura, kekirawa and Kahatagasdigiliya divisions of GVA take part the pined Poppy flower to Director Regional Health, Provincial Director Health and Office staff on 04 November 2024.
Meanwhile, GVA members pinned the Poppy flower to Provincial Director Education and office staff for mark the commemoration of Tri forces remembrance Poppy day with grace attendance of Comdt GRC at Anuradhapura.
