On December 10, 2024, troops of the 6th Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment officially handed over a newly built house to a deserving family in the Labunoruwa area, Maradankadawala. The new home, built for Mrs Harshani Poornima Nandasiri and her family consist with six members, was made possible through the generosity of local donors who contributed financially and provided essential materials.
This project was initiated as under the strategic guidance of Commander of the Army, and executed under the leadership of Major D S Handunge of 6th Battalion the Gajaba Regiment took the initiative to complete this house using technical skills and manpower assistance given by troops of the 6th Battalion the Gajaba Regiment.
During the warming ceremony, the house keys were symbolically handed over to the beneficiary by Major General A.H.L.G. Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Commander Security Forces (West). The event featured traditional religious observances, offering blessings to the family and wishing them success in their future endeavors.
