20TH BATTALION OF THE GAJABA REGIMENT’S FACILITATION OF DRY-RATION AID DISTRIBUTION TO EIGHT TEMPLES AND CIVILIANS AFFECTED BY DISASTER IMPACTS

In response to the emergency disaster situation within the area of responsibility, the 20th Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment organised and conducted a community-oriented humanitarian initiative on 06,07 and 08 December 2025. The programme involved the distribution of dry-ration packs, each valued at Rs. 5,000.00, to Eight Temples and civilians residing in Pulmoddai area who were adversely affected by the disaster.

The humanitarian effort was further supported through the generous financial contribution of approximately Rs. 400,000.00 provided by Prof. Subhashinie Senadheera, Dr. Waruni Senadheera, Dr. Bhagya Senadheera, Mr. SPGC Senadheera and Mrs. Epa Senavirathna. Their sponsorship enabled the timely provision of essential supplies to the civilians and Ven. Theras affected by the disaster.

The programme was conducted under the direct supervision and guidance of the Commanding Officer of the 20th Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Rohana Ekanayake RWP RSP psc GR. Officers and other ranks of the unit participated in this event, deploying a contingent of 03 × 10 personnel to ensure the effective and efficient execution of the community welfare initiative.
