The 16th contingent of the Sri Lanka Force Protection Company (SLFPC) is set to embark on their peacekeeping mission under the United Nation Interim Force in Lebanon. The Contingent presented a ceremonial salute to Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, at the parade ground of the Gajaba Regimental Centre on Saturday 22 March.
Brigadier Roshan Kalupahana RSP USP, the Centre Commandant of the Gajaba Regimental Centre, warmly welcomed the Army Chief, who was honoured with a Guard Turnout at the entrance before receiving the parade.
During the formal proceedings, the Army Chief handed over the National flag, UN flag, Army flag and the Gajaba Regiment flag to SLFPC Contingent Commander, signifying their readiness for the mission.
After the military formalities , Major General M Chandana Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment of the Gajaba Regiment presented a special memento to the Commander of the Army and he was invited to plant a sapling to mark his debut visit to Home of Gajaba as the Army Chief.
Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Deputy Chief of Staff, Council Members, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and families of the contingent troop witnessed the parade.
