NEWLY PROMOTED FLAG – RANKED OFFICERS HONOURED IN A FELICITATION CEREMONY

Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, following its’ traditions and military formalities with the blessings of the Commander, Security Forces – Central and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Nalin Bandaranayake USP and supervision of the Centre Commandant, saluted the newly promoted Brigadier B D T D Jayarathne psc and Brigadier K G A T Kalakorale RSP on 03 Oct 2025 in a fitting ceremony, held at the VIR Regimental Centre, Boyagane.

VIR BIDS FAREWELL TO RETIRING BRIGADIER

The Vijaybahu Infantry Regiment bade formal farewell to the retiring Brigadier W M L S Dayawansa upon completion of 34 years of valuable service to the organization in a fitting ceremony which took place on 03 October 2025.
Accordingly, outgoing Brigadier Suminda Dayawansa was accorded a ceremonial Guard Turnout and a ceremonial Parade in appreciation of his service to the regiment, where he addressed all the troops and extended his thanks to all members.

OFFICERS` TRAINING DAY SECOND QUARTER 2025 CONDUCTED AT RHQ VIR

Under the patronage of the Commander, Security Forces Headquarters (Central) and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Nalin Bandaranayake USP, the Officers’ Training Day for the second quarter of the year 2025 was successfully held at the Regimental Centre, the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 19 September 2025.

Commander 122 Infantry Brigade - Brigadier Dammika Jayarathne Leads a Heartwarming Initiative for Soldiers' Families

1. In a remarkable display of community support, Brigadier Dammika Jayarathne, the Commander of the 122 Brigade, spearheaded a dual-purpose welfare program aimed at assisting the families of low-income soldiers. The event, which included a dry ration distribution and a scholarship program, was held on 09 September 2025, at the Daya Gamage Hall, Kiriwehera Raja Maha Viharaya, Katharagama.

VIR BIDS FAREWELL TO RETIRING MAJOR GENERAL JANITH BANDARA

Invigorating an age-old military tradition, the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment hosted a farewell ceremony in honour of the retiring Deputy Commandant of Sri Lanka Army volunteer Force Major General B M R J Bandara at the Regimental Centre, Boyagane, Kurunegala, in which his 35 years of distinguished service was hailed and awarded accolades on 28 July 2025.

VIR DONATES COPRA TO ILLUMINATE SRI DALADA ESALA PERAHERA FOR THE 12TH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

Showing highest regard and deepest veneration for conduct of the annual Kandy Sri Dalada
Perahera (pageant), the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops offered six tons of dried coconut
(Copra) for illumination of the historic pageant to the Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the
Tooth Relic) in Kandy for the 12
