  • ARCHERS BID FAREWELL TO OUTGOING MAJOR GENERAL LAKSIRI PERERA

    On 15 July 2022, revitalizing an age-old military tradition, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Centre hosted a farewell ceremony in honour of the retiring, Coommandant of the Army War College, Major General U U K L S Perera RWP RSP USP psc at the Regimental Centre, Boyagane, Kurunegala, in which his 34 years of distinguished service was hailed and awarded accolades.

  • FOOD DISTRIBUTION PGM FOR THE ESALA POYA DAY

    Under the guidance of General Officer Commanding 24 division, and 241 Inf Bde, 18th Battalion of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment was Organized food packs distributing pgm on the occasion of Esala poya day at Pandirippu vision of hope children’s orphanage and Osaka lanka IOC filling station queue Nintavur, prepared 500 food packs and distributed from 1200hrs to 1400 hrs on 13th Jul 2022. Lt Col SRKD Sirisena RSP USP Commanding Officer of 18th Battalion The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment graced the occasion as the chief guest and other Officers and ORs of the Battalion had participated for above mention event.

  • ANOTHER DINERS’ CLUB SESSION WAS SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTED AT RHQ VIR

    Under the guidance of Director General General Staff Sri Lanka Army Headquarters and Colonel of the Regiment Major General Nishantha Manage, and direct supervision of Regimental Centre Commandant Brigadier Prabath Kodithuwakku, another successful Diners’ Club session was successfully held at “The Salute” Multifunctional Hall on 01 July 2022 on par with the Officers’ Training Day for the third quarter 2022, while adhering all the health precautions and guidelines stipulated to prevent COVID-19 outbreak.

  • COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT ADDRESS VIR OFFICERS AND MEET THE COMMANDING OFFICERS

    Director General General Staff Sri Lanka Army Headquarters and Colonel of the Regiment Major General Nishantha Manage addressed the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment officers at the Regimental Centre Archers Cinema on 01 July 2022 in parallel with the Officers’ Training Day for the Third Quarter 2022. Nearly 200 officers participated for this address. Afterwards the Colonel of the Regiment met with the Commanding Officers of VIR battalions and had an extensive and a timely important discussion on matters existing at battalion’s level and related concerns. For many issues and complications solutions were given at this conference and also decisions were taken for further improvement and betterment. This was held while adhering all the health precautions and guidelines stipulated to prevent COVID-19 outbreak.

  • OFFICERS TRAINING DAY FOR THE THIRD QUARTER - 2022 WAS CONDUCTED AT RHQ VIR

    Under the patronage of Director General General Staff Sri Lanka Army Headquarters and Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Nishantha Manage, Officers Training Day for the Third Quarter - 2022 was concluded with the participation of 195 officers at the Vijayabahu Infantry Regimental Centre on 01 July 2022 as per the directions given by the Directorate of Training – Army Headquarters, while adhering all the health precautions and guidelines stipulated to prevent COVID-19 outbreak.

  • VIR BECOME RUNNER-UP AT NATIONAL PARALYMPIC ATHLETIC MEET 2022

    Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Paralympic team became the Runner-Up during the National Paralympic Athletic Meet 2022, held on 28 and 29 June 2022 at Sugathadasa Stadium with securing 8 Gold Medals, 10 Silver Medals and 08 Bronze Medals. 23 athletes of VIR representing 31 events under 11 categories participated for this event. 28 teams from around the island took part in this National Paralympic Athletic Meet.

  • CULTIVATION AND AGRONOMY PROJECT AT VIR REGIMENTAL CENTRE BEARS FRUIT

    Due to the prevailing economic calamity in the country, with the aim of successfully facing any possible future food crisis, harmonized with the cultivation perception of the Commander of the Army, under the directions and guidance of Director General General Staff Sri Lanka Army Headquarters and Colonel of the Regiment Major General Nishantha Manage, and direct supervision of Regimental Centre Commandant Brigadier Prabath Kodithuwakku, Cultivation and Agronomy Projectcommenced in the VIR Boyagane camp covering an area of almost 12 acres.It is planned to cultivate numerous crops such as Chili, Green Pepper, Brinjal, Lady’s Fingers, Beans, Turkey Berry, Pumpkins, Cantaloupe, Cucumber,Ridged Gourd, Snake Gourd, Potato, Winged Beans, Manyok, Drumstick, June Plums, Kathurumurunga, Lime, Turmeric, Ginger, etc. Cultivation is planned according to short, medium, and long term crops.
