VIR SPORTS TALENTS RECOGNIZED AT THE ARMY SPORTS AWARDING CEREMONY FOR THE YEAR 2022

VIR Muay Thai team who became the champions for the first time in the history at the Sri Lanka Army Inter Regiment Muay Thai Championship – 2022, and VIR Handball team who became the champions at the Sri Lanka Army Inter Regiment Handball Championship – 2022, received their champions trophies during the Army prize-awarding ceremony of Inter Regiment Sports Championship tournaments which was held on 04 January 2023 at Army Indoor stadium Panagoda, headed by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, the Commander of the Army as the Chief Guest.

The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Muay Thai team under the supervision of 10 (V) Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment was able to obtain the 1st place by securing 7 Gold medals, 4 Silver medals and 5 Bronze medals.

The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Handball team under the supervision of 2 (V) Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment was able to obtain the 1st place where Corporal Pradeep Manamendra of VIR was awarded as the Best Goal Keeper of the tournament.

The Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, together with the Chief of Staff Major General Channa Weerasooriya and Director Sports Brigadier Nalin Bandaranayake, gave away the trophies and certificates to the winners in above tournaments amid roars of applause.
