The troops of the 4 Armoured Regiment successfully completed the construction of a new house for Mr. A K Thamyith, a civil staff member of the Regiment, as part of an ongoing welfare initiative focused on improving the living conditions and overall well-being of its personnel and their families. This project was carried out under the supervision of Lieutenant Colonel P S Liyanage RSP USP, Commanding Officer of the 4 Armoured Regiment and under the patronage of the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps.
The formal handover ceremony took place on 27 April, where Major General P R Pathiravithana USAWC psc, Director General General Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, officially presented the newly constructed house to Mr. Thamyith. During the occasion, essential household items were also provided to support the family’s transition into their new home.
In addition, the Armour Ladies Club contributed to the initiative by donating a sofa set, adding comfort to the residence. The donation was presented by the President of the Armour Ladies Club, Mrs. Sumangali Pathiravithana, symbolizing encouragement and goodwill for the family’s new beginning.
This welfare project was made possible through the collective efforts and dedication of the troops of the 4 Armoured Regiment, along with the generous financial contributions of Brigadier M A Izadeen (Retd) RSP and Mr. Riaz Usoof.
The successful completion of the house reflects the Regiment’s strong commitment to welfare, unity and the continuous support of its members. The event was also attended by several senior military officials, including the Commander of Security Forces Headquarters East, the General Officer Commanding of the 22 Division, the Commander of the 223 Infantry Brigade and the Centre Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps.
