FELICITATION CEREMONY FOR NEWLY PROMOTED MAJOR GENERAL

The Sri Lanka Armoured Corps hosted a dignified felicitation on 04 May 2026 at the Home of Armour to mark the promotion of Major General L W S R Wettasinghe. In the history of SLAC, he became the first senior officer of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, representing the Volunteer Force, to be elevated to the rank of Major General, an achievement that stands as a proud milestone for both the Regiment and the Volunteer Force alike.

In keeping with proud regimental traditions, the senior officer was received with a Guard Turnout and accorded a Guard of Honour, symbolizing his elevation to higher command and his continued dedicated service to the nation and the Regiment.

Following the ceremonial proceedings, the newly promoted Major General joined officers and soldiers for the customary All Ranks Tea. This formal gathering provided an opportunity for all ranks to extend their congratulations and best wishes while fostering camaraderie and strengthening regimental bonds within the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps.
