UNITY IN DIVERSITY: SANNADDA BAK MAHA ULELA - 2025' HELD AT HOME OF ARMOUR

The rhythmic beats of rabana, the scent of sweet kiribath, and the sounds of laughter echoed through the grounds of Regimental Centre, Sri Lanka Armoured Corps as cavalrymen, and their families came together to celebrate the Sinhala and Tamil New Year - Bak Maha Ulela 2025 in true regimental style on 10 April 2025.

The Quarter Master General, Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of SLAC, Major General M S Devapriya USP ndc graced the festival as the Chief Guest together with Mrs Dulashi Meepagala, Chairperson of the Armour Ladies Club (ALC).

The festival formally commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag followed by ligtining of the traditional oil lamp by the chief guest, few other senior officers, officers and other ranks, symbolising the start of the celebration.

A two - minute silence was observed to express gratitude and remembarance for those who have given their lives for the motherland and the nation.

A colourful display of traditional games (Avurudu Kreeda) brought out both the competitive spirit and good humor of participants. Events such as blindfolded pot breaking, pillow - fights, Eying the Elephant, tug of war, Avurudu Kumara (New Year Prince) filled the grounds with cheers and celebration, reminding all that joy and camaraderie are powerful forces even in a profession forged in discipline and sacrifice.

The event was culminated with the musical performance after giving away gifts to the winners of different events and competitions.
