7TH (V) REGIMENT SRI LANKA ARMOURED CORPS UNIT SYMPOSIUM & DINERS’ CLUB

The 7th Volunteer Regiment Sri Lanka Armoured Corps convened its inaugural Unit Symposium & Diners’ Club on 19 April 2024, under the theme "Infantry Role and Future Employability as a Volunteer Regiment," marking a historic milestone in regimental discourse. The event, graced by notable figures including Maj Gen S W M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, Colonel Commandant SLAC and the Commander Security Forces (West) and featuring a keynote address by Maj Gen P A M Peiris RSP USP psc, the General Officer Commanding 22 Infantry Division; provided a platform for rigorous examination and strategic dialogue concerning the regiment's operational trajectory.

Chaired by Lt Col L L K Weerasinghe and Maj K P D Abewikrama psc, the symposium delved into discussions ranging from the past conflicts' impacts to the regiment's role in the contemporary landscape. Council members, including the Centre Commandant and Brigade Commander, actively participated, fostering an enriching exchange of ideas. The event concluded with an interactive session and lunch, fostering camaraderie among attendees at the Officers' Mess.

Simultaneously, a Diners' Club organized by the regiment aimed to broaden the horizons of Cavalry Officers, offering a platform for social interaction alongside intellectual enrichment. With a guest lecture by Dr. Manoj Sanjeewa Fernando MBBS, M Phil. CTHE, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science at Rajarata University, the evening saw lively discussions and engaging interactions, culminating in a convivial dinner shared among esteemed guests, including Major General M S Devapriya USP ndc, the General Officer Commanding 64 Infantry Division and other senior officers of the corps.
