Sri Lanka Armoured Corps paid tribute to the memory of fallen War Heroes at the War Heroes Monument at Kalattewa on 23 November 2023 before the celebration of the forthcoming Corps Day.
Major General S W M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, Military Secretary and the Colonel Commandant SLAC graced the event as the Chief Guest together with several Senior Officers.
At the outset, Colonel Commandant was welcomed by Brigadier P N Wijesiriwardena RSP USP, Centre Commandant SLAC and Brigadier L K T Fernando RSP USP, Commander Armoured Brigade at the entrance. Later the day’s Chief Guest flanked by several Senior Officers and family members of fallen war heroes made their way to the monument and saluted their memory by placing floral wreaths.
At the end of the day’s event, the Colonel Commandant shared a few moments with those family members.
28 Officers and 415 Other Ranks of the SLAC paid their supreme sacrifice on behalf of the nation before May 2009.
