The Cavalry Family celebrated the Sinhala/Tamil New Year festival at Rock House Camp on Thursday, 20 April 2023. Following the necessary strict health guidelines, the event took place in a magnificent manner having limited number of traditional yet fun and culturally rich rituals and games.
The Chief Guest, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps Major General D B S N Bothota RWP RSP VSV USP psc was welcomed by the Commander Armoured Brigade and the Centre Commandant, Regimental Centre Sri Lanka Armoured Corps.
With concern to prevailing warm weather condition, the entire event was limited only for morning hours. A memorable occasion during the event was the distribution of plants to the soldiers. At the end of the event, the Senior Officers gifted the winners of the different arrays of events and competitions that took place.
This New Year celebration provided not only the joy but also bought the Cavalry Family together to celebrate its unity and harmony keeping in line with the hallmark of this New Year.
