Sri Lanka Armoured Corps bade farewell to the outgoing Colonel Commandant Major General A L P S Tillekerathne RWP RSP USP psc with a formal farewell ceremony, held at the SLAC Regimental Centre premises at Rock House on 9 November 2020 while complying with the COVID 19 safety regulations.
Farewell formalities commenced with a ceremonial Guard Turnout, followed by a Guard of Honour at the Rock House ground. Major General M K S Silva RWP RSP ndu General Officer Commanding 62 Infantry Division, Brigadier M G T D Rathnasekara USP Commander Armoured Brigade and Brigadier M S Devapriya USP Center Commandant Sri Lanka Armoured Corps welcomed him together with Senior Officers and Officers of the Corps. The day’s event also included with a tree planting, all ranks tea, troop address and later he formally blessed with the traditional street lining.
The formal farewell programme culminated with the customary ‘Dinner Night’ hosted for Major General Prathap Tillekerathne & Mrs Pumali Tillekerathne by Officers of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and their Spouses in the Cavalry Mess.
