The Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps Major General S D T Liyanage WWV RWP VSV USP ndc psc took his time off to visit the 5 Reconnaissance Regiment Sri Lanka Armoured Corps on 13 May 2020. To mark his visit, he was honored with a Guard turnout and followed by a troop address, tree planting and all ranks tea were arranged by the Commanding Officer, all Officers and other rankers of the 5 Reconnaissance Regiment while adhering to all stipulated Covid-19 safety regulations.
During his troop address he emphasized on Covid-19 outbreak and the responsibilities lies with a military person in the contemporary situation in the country. He highlighted the needs of human inside the uniform and paid special regards to the Officers and Other Rankers of 5 Reconnaissance Regiment who had sacrificed their lives for the betterment of the nation.
Further adding more value to his visit and a heart touching occasion, Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage donated a special made go-cart to a daughter with special needs of Cpl Rathnayake R M S from ESR who has dedicatedly contributed to 5 Reconnaissance Regiment for more than 9 years.
