EXCURSION TO DIYATALAWA

The officers of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps including Major General SDT Liyanage WWV RWP ndc psc; the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps went on an excursion to Thotupola Kanda and Horton Plains in the Central Province. Officers had a very rare experience of moving away from the official routine works while having a delighted train journey from Colombo Fort to Diyatalawa cherishing the memories of days gone by.

On 22nd morning, officers reached the Horton plains and to get a hiking experience; first all climbed the Thotupola Kanda which is considered as the third highest mountain in the country and followed with a trekking experience by walking around the Horton plains which is considered to be the biggest natural bio-diversity park and also one of the coldest and windiest places in the country. The 9 km long trek covered the places such as 'Worlds End', Bakers Falls and scenic beauty of the montane grassland and cloud forest.

The excursion culminated at Crest Hill at Diyatalawa Military Garrison with the bonfire organized for officers who were exhausted during the field trip to get themselves reinvigorated prior to leave for Colombo on 23rd Feb 2019. It was another successful event organized by Regimental Centre under the guidance of Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps.
